OutLoud — Caller Voice ("the app", "we") announces the name of an incoming caller aloud. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information. The guiding principle is simple: the app keeps your data on your device wherever possible, never shows ads, and never sells your data.
Contacts. When a call comes in, the app looks up the number in your contacts to find the name to announce. This lookup happens on your device. Your contact list is not uploaded to us and is not shared with anyone.
Phone & call state. The app needs to know a call is arriving, and the incoming number, so it can announce the caller. It obtains the number through Android's Call Screening service. The app does not request or use the Android call-log permission.
Notifications & background service. Android requires a status notification while the app monitors for calls so it works reliably in the background. That notification contains no personal data beyond a generic status message.
Bluetooth. Used only to route the spoken announcement to a connected Bluetooth audio device, where applicable.
Voice synthesis text. To produce a natural-sounding announcement, the app sends the short text to be spoken — for example, "Incoming call from Alex" — over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our voice server, which returns an audio clip. We do not send your phone numbers or your contact list. The text is used only to generate the audio and is not retained for any other purpose. Audio generated by Google's Gemini text-to-speech is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
Generated audio. The returned clips are cached locally on your device and are removed when you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.
Phone (READ_PHONE_STATE) and the Call Screening role: to detect an incoming call and obtain the caller's number to announce, without using the restricted call-log permission.
Contacts (READ_CONTACTS): to match the incoming number to a contact name, on your device.
Notifications and foreground service: so detection works reliably while the app is closed. These do not access personal data.
Bluetooth (BLUETOOTH_CONNECT): to route the announcement to a connected Bluetooth device.
Premium subscriptions are processed entirely by Google Play. We never see or store your payment details, and your premium status is stored locally on your device. Google's handling of billing data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Because your data is stored on your device, you control it. Uninstall the app or clear its data to remove everything it created. The announcement text sent to the voice server is processed transiently to generate audio and is not retained as stored content. For any question or deletion request, contact us below.
The app is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
