Privacy Policy — Voice Reminders

OutLoud: Voice Reminders · Effective June 4, 2026 · Back to Voice Reminders

OutLoud: Voice Reminders ("OutLoud", "the app", "we") is an Android app that speaks your reminders out loud using AI-generated voices. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. The short version: your reminders live on your device, we don't run accounts, we don't collect analytics, and we never sell data.

Information the app handles

Reminder text. When you create a reminder, its text is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which forwards it to Google's Gemini text-to-speech service to generate the spoken audio. The text is used solely to generate that audio and is not stored by us. The generated audio file is saved only on your device. Google's processing of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

Reminders and settings. Your reminders, voice preferences, theme choice, and subscription status are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded, synced, or backed up by us. Deleting the app deletes them.

Microphone (voice-to-text). If you use the microphone button to dictate a reminder (a premium feature), the app uses your device's speech recognition service to convert your speech to text. The app does not record, store, or transmit audio of your voice itself. Microphone access is used only while you are actively dictating, and only after you grant the permission. Depending on your device settings, speech recognition may be processed by Google's speech services.

Payments. Premium subscriptions are processed entirely by Google Play. We never see or store your payment details. Google's handling of billing data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

What we don't do

Permissions the app requests

Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO): only for optional voice-to-text dictation, as described above.

Exact alarms & notifications: used so reminders fire and speak at precisely the time you set, including when the app is closed. These permissions do not access personal data.

Ignore battery optimizations (optional): if granted, prevents Android from delaying your reminders. It does not access personal data.

Data retention and deletion

Because your data is stored on your device, you are in control of it. Delete individual reminders in the app, or uninstall the app to remove all data it created. Reminder text processed by our server is used transiently to generate audio and is not retained as stored content.

Children

OutLoud is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
